実質フリーエネルギーの核融合技術が進展中です
昨日今日と日本と海外で核融合技術のニュースが連続で出てきました。
核融合技術は入力に使ったエネルギーより出力されるエネルギーが膨大で出力エネルギーを入力に回せばまた膨大なエネルギーが出力されるので実質膨大なフリーエネルギーです。夢の未来技術と言われています。これが実現すれば世界で大きなエネルギーが自由に使えるようになるので世の中は大きく変わります。未来人情報などによると核融合技術の実用化は２０４０年より前に起こるようです。今回のニュースにあるようにＡＩ技術の進展により核融合技術が進展したので、このような展開を収穫加速の法則と言います。ある技術の進展が他の技術の進展を早めるということです。このようなことがこれから加速度的に起こってきます。未来人情報によると日本は２０２０年代後半から大きく変わるとのことなので期待したいです。
核融合の世界最大級実験装置、22年秋稼働 脱炭素で注目
温暖化ガスを排出しない革新的な発電技術として核融合に注目が集まる。量子科学技術研究開発機構（QST）の世界最大級の核融合実験装置「JT-60SA」（以下SAと表記）が2022年秋にも本格的に稼働する。核融合は高度なプラズマ制御技術などが必要だが、脱炭素を背景に世界で開発機運が盛り上がっている。
岸田文雄首相は1月の施政方針演説でカーボンニュートラル実現への技術的選択肢の一つとして核融合に言及した。首相が国会の演説で核融合を取り上げるのは異例だ。政府は実用化に向け国家戦略を作る方針だ。
核融合の燃料は水素の同位体である「重水素」と「三重水素」だ。超高温の水素プラズマを真空容器内に閉じ込める。太陽内部で起きるのと同じ核融合反応で、重水素と三重水素がくっつきヘリウムに変わる過程で大量のエネルギーが生じる。
QST那珂研究所（茨城県那珂市）に設置したSAは、ドーナツ型の真空容器に水素プラズマを閉じ込める「トカマク型」と呼ばれる装置だ。前身の「JT-60」に比べ真空容器が一回り大きく、プラズマの閉じ込めに強力な超電導磁石を使うのが特徴だ。21年春に本格稼働する計画だったが、試験運転中に装置の一部で短絡（ショート）が発生し改修が必要になった。22年秋に初のプラズマ生成を目指す。
SAはフランスで建設が進む世界最大の国際熱核融合実験炉（ITER）を支援・補完する役割を担う。ITERは日米欧や中国、インドなどの国際共同プロジェクトで25年の完成を目指す。プラズマを400～600秒維持し、入力エネルギーを上回る出力を確認できれば、参加各国は実際に発電する「核融合原型炉」に歩みを進めることになる見通しだ。
SAでは三重水素は使わず、プラズマを100秒程度維持する。「ITERでの長時間の維持に必要な技術を実証し成果を反映させる」と栗原研一QST量子エネルギー部門長は話す。
QSTは周辺技術の開発にも取り組む。例えば海水からのリチウム回収技術だ。核融合炉にも大切な資源だが、リチウムイオン電池の製造への転用も視野に入る。
